Using four distinct colour palettes and four monochromatic backgrounds, I repeatedly painted four familiar still-life subjects—a banana, an apple, a skull, and a cup. By working within this framework, I discovered how boundaries within process can spark my creativity and allow me to focus on experimenting with colour, composition, and perception.

While I find limitations in painting to be helpful, I’ve struggled with personal doubts that act as barriers. Thoughts like “I’m not ready” and “someone else could do this better,” have held me back. This project became a way to confront those beliefs by focusing on what brings me joy: painting for my own curiosity and growth. The process was methodical and intentional, but also liberating, allowing me to embrace the imperfections and surprises that came up along the way.

Limiting Beliefs is a reflection on the dual nature of constraints—how they can serve as tools for creativity while also acting as obstacles to overcome. For me, this series is a celebration of experimentation, learning, and the simple pleasure of painting without fear of judgment.
